Agbedor Kofe (V/R), Dec. 27, GNA – Torgbui Satsi III, Chief of Adzonkor, in collaboration with the Adzonkor Gborvafe Festival Planning Committee, has organised a free health screening exercise for residents within and outside the Adzonkor community in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region.
The exercise, held on Friday, December 26, at Agbedor Kofe, benefited residents from Adzonkor, Agbedor Kofe, Dakudzi, Wuvevia, Kpenkor, Avele, Dadifedo, Keklebesi and surrounding communities.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Torgbui Satsi III said the health screening formed part of activities marking this year’s Gborvafe Festival and was aimed at improving the general health and wellbeing of the people.
He explained that the initiative underscored the festival’s focus on development-oriented programmes that directly impacted the lives of residents, adding that this was the fifth consecutive time such an exercise had been organised for the community.
“We believe good health is key to development, and as a traditional authority, we see it as our responsibility to support initiatives that help our people live healthier lives,” the Chief stated.
Mr Prince Agamah, a Public Health Nurse, who led a team of four other health personnel to conduct the exercise, told GNA that regular health check-ups were essential for detecting potential health challenges early.
He stressed that individuals should make health screening a routine practice and not wait until they fell ill before seeking medical attention.
“It is important for everyone to have scheduled and regular check-ups to ensure that the body is functioning well,” Mr Agamah said.
He further advised residents to adopt healthy lifestyles, urging them to “eat right and drink right” to maintain good health.
Mr Agamah also advised residents to stop purchasing medicines from roadside vendors and unlicensed drug peddlers who move from one community to another.
Ms Comfort Hudo, a beneficiary from Dakudzi, expressed appreciation to the Chief and the festival planning committee for organising the exercise, describing it as timely and beneficial.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, she thanked the organisers and called for the initiative to be sustained to support the health needs of residents in the area.
