Ada, Dec. 23, GNA - The Ada Journalists Union (AJU) has held a meeting with Mr Daniel Keshi Bessey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sege Constituency, to strengthen the cordial relationship between the media and political leadership in the constituency.

The engagement brought together representatives of the union and officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sege Constituency.

Representing the Ada Journalists Union were Mr Daniel Akpaloo Nyorngmor, the chairman; Mrs Mary Odakor Akwetey, Mr Gabriel Korle Adjaotor, and Mr Richmond Opesika Tetteh Puplampu.

The NDC delegation was led by the MP for Sege, Mr Daniel Keshi Bessey, accompanied by Mr Freeman Narh Ejeoji, the Constituency Communications Officer, and Mr Prosper Teye Akortia, the Youth Organiser.

The meeting was convened to address and clarify a recent misunderstanding between the MP and a member of the Ada Journalists Union, Mr. Joseph Akrofi Ocansey, following a Facebook post that generated public debate.

The engagement also served as a platform to reaffirm the shared commitment of both parties to professionalism, open communication, and respect for the distinct roles played by the media and political leadership in the development of the area.

The journalists and the politicians, during the discussions, emphasised the importance of constructive dialogue, accurate information dissemination, and collaboration between the two parties.

Mr Bessey expressed appreciation for the role journalists play in promoting transparency, accountability and development, and reiterated his readiness to work closely with the union in the interest of the Sege Constituency.

Mr Nyorngmor acknowledged the MP’s openness to dialogue and reaffirmed the union’s commitment to ethical journalism, fairness and responsible reporting.

He said the engagement marked a positive step towards resolving misunderstandings through dialogue rather than confrontation and would help build lasting professional relationships between the media and other stakeholders in the development of the Sege and Ada areas.

The meeting ended with both parties agreeing to maintain continuous engagement and effective communication to prevent future misunderstandings and to promote peace, unity, and development within the area.
