UHAS Governing Council renews appointment of Vice Chancellor and Registrar

Ho, Nov 25, GNA – The Governing Council of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) has renewed the stewardship of the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar of the Institution for a second term at the helm of affairs. 

Professor Kodzo Gavua-led Council renewed the respective appointments of Professor Lydia Aziato and Mrs Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, for a further term of four years effective August 1, 2026, to end on July 31, 2030. 

In a statement signed by Mr Anthony Asempah, the Director of Public Affairs, available to the Ghana News Agency, it indicated that the decision followed a thorough performance evaluation process by two review committees established by the University Council.   

The statement said the “Council congratulates Prof. Lydia Aziato and Mrs Yaa Amankwaa Opuni on their reappointment and calls on all faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners to offer them the needed support as they continue to lead the University into its next phase of growth.” 

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed on her for a second term and committed to dedicate herself to work diligently with the team and all stakeholders, to develop the University within its focus and mandate to train healthcare professionals.  

She committed to work with stakeholders to increase programmes, research, students, staff and infrastructure and ensures that UHAS continued to be the number one health training institution in Ghana.
