It would be climaxed on Saturday, November 22, 2025, with a durbar.

The event provided the opportunity for key stakeholders including Divisional Chiefs, Family heads and Asafo members among others to discuss issues concerning the festival for peaceful celebration to achieves their goals.

“Brakwa and its surrounding villages need to grow, hence the need for us to use this festival and the homecoming event to foster cohesion within the traditional Area by combining our forces and rich expertise to make the area what we want it to be.”

Nana Osaofori stated that festivals were not for merrymaking only, but for stocktaking, reunion, reviewing of development plans, family meetings among others, and everyone must contribute their quota for successful and peaceful celebration.

“I have observed that peace and development are the pivot upon which we can get to the Promised Land, to be able to get the needed support from the government and other stakeholders to make the place a total choice.

“Conflicts will break our communities, hence I will urge us all to come together as one people with a common destiny, loving one another, to help build Brakwa.”

He further called on all and sundry living in the area to crosscheck or verify any information before sharing to avoid misinformation and be bold to seek clarification on issues concerning the town.

“If you cannot verify a fact, do not share it as a confirmed truth, for It is better to admit uncertainty than to spread falsehoods, hence for us to apply these rigorous checks, build credibility and help prevent the spread of misinformation to foster a more trustworthy information environment.

The youth must also refrain from engaging in negative activities which could disturb their future and mar the beauty of the festival.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Nana Nkongua (Stool Chief), explained that Akwesi Dia Kese feast was held annually on the last Sunday in their calendar ahead of the celebration of  Pitanko festival.

“Legend has it, that their ancestors, throughout their arduous journey and settlement, annually propitiated their deity the ‘black stool’ since 1783.”

He therefore called on all the sons and daughters of Brakwa community to return home and join in the celebration to make it memorable.

Later interacting with some of the people, they stated that Brakwa, a farming community in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district, had a lot of developmental challenges, notably the deteriorated road networks from Odoben and from Breman Asikuma to town, making movement of people and their farm products difficult.

He appealed to the government to help improve the roads for free movements of goods and services.
