Nogokpo (VR), Nov. 12, GNA – Patriots of Nogokpo Association in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region has celebrated its fifth anniversary.
The Association, which serves as a medium of unity, friendship, and vision, is also to champion development projects in the Nogokpo community and beyond.
Mr Bright Agbesi Bokorvi, the Founder of the Association during the anniversary meeting at Nogokpo disclosed that another objective of the Association was to create a community where members could support each other in times of need or difficulties.
“The Association was founded in 2020 and five years ago, this vision of bringing us together for a common purpose, which is supporting each other in times of need began as a WhatsApp group,” he said.
“So, we created a WhatsApp group and added many friends. We sold our vision, and many bought into the ideas, and this is how far from God has brought us. And we are growing into a lager family and community for more and better development.”
He explained that the main aim was to support each other during occasions like marriages, graduations, naming ceremonies, bereavement, among others to support the needy as well as the community at large.
Mr George Nathaniel Kudaya, the Secretary of the Association, also stated that the Association was not only for financial support but also a platform for shaping each other in areas of knowledge, ideas, and guidance.
He said over the five-year period, the Association had not only provided financial and moral support to members but also become a platform for learning, sharing ideas, and promoting the spirit of togetherness to uplift the desire of community development of Nogokpo.
Mr Kudaya urged other citizens of Nogokpo, yet to join the Association to do so and bring others on board and support one another in times of joy and difficulty to promote friendship and compassion with commitment and unity to make a real difference in people’s lives.
He urged the members to reflect on how far they had come and the sacrifices that brought them to where they were currently and remain loyal and faithful to the Association as they had been from the beginning.
The Secretary also appealed to others to renew their commitment to the values that unite the community such as love, support, respect, and progress, and continue to find new innovative ways to empower each other to grow the membership and extend the impact beyond the community.
He used the opportunity to appreciate both past and present executives for their dedication and support to the Association over the years.
Mr Jonas Fotor Agbagba, the Assembly Member for Nogokpo/Ativuta Electoral Area, urged the Association members to remain focused on their mandate and stay truthful to the objectives.
He mentioned that for the Association to stand strong, there was the need for unity and focus saying, “I remember about 10 years ago, an association like this was inaugurated here but as we speak today, they are nowhere to be found.”
Mr Agbagba urged chiefs, opinion leaders, and all stakeholders to put aside their differences and support the Association to achieve its dreams while appealing to all citizens of Nogokpo, both at home and abroad, to support the community in various forms.
Some association members who spoke to Ghana News Agency pledged their commitment to support each other and the community for development.
