Dambai (O/R), Nov. 25, GNA – Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Regional Minister, has praised security personnel in the region for their professionalism and dedication towards maintaining peace and stability in the face of potential conflicts.

In an engagement with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Minister commended the security agencies for their vigilance and commitment towards keeping the region safe from anarchy and chaos.

Mr Gyapong explained that without their efforts, the region would have descended into what could look like ‘Sodium and Gomorrah.’

The Regional Minister’s comments come amidst ongoing efforts to address tensions in some of the districts and municipalities and promote peaceful coexistence among communities.

Speaking to GNA, he urged citizens to continue to support the security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and stability in the area.

When contacted by GNA, several residents expressed their agreement with the Minister’s commendations, hoping that security agencies would add up their skills and tactics, particularly in conflict zones.

“We appreciate the efforts of the security agencies so far, but we also believe they can do more, especially during this Christmas festive period,” Madam Cynthia Akosua Mensah, a trader in Nkwanta South added.

“We need more security presence in our communities to prevent any untoward incidents,” Mr Joshua Kunde, a resident of Bonakye said.

Others also urged their fellow community members to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities, emphasising the importance of community policing in maintaining peace and security.
