Nkwanta South records development progress despite lingering conflict – MCE

Dambai (O/R), July 10, GNA – The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Mr Joseph Awal Antwi, says the municipality continues to make significant progress in infrastructural development despite the lingering conflict affecting parts of the area.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Ninth Ordinary Meeting of the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly, Mr Awal said the Assembly had maintained steady progress in the implementation of development projects since 2025, with about 95 per cent of ongoing works advancing according to schedule.

He said the Assembly had undertaken several infrastructural projects, including the construction of classroom blocks, Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and other social amenities to improve access to education, healthcare and other essential services.

Mr Awal noted that funds allocated for government-sponsored projects had been fully utilised, resulting in the completion of a few projects, while others remained at various stages of execution.

He said the progress demonstrated the Assembly’s commitment to improving the living conditions of residents despite the prevailing security challenges.

The MCE, however, acknowledged that the recurring conflict continued to pose challenges to development planning and project implementation.

He explained that the insecurity had disrupted the movement of personnel, community engagement, and other coordination activities necessary for effective project execution and long-term investment.

Mr Awal assured residents that the Government, working in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly and security agencies, would continue to pursue peacebuilding and stabilisation efforts to restore lasting peace and create an enabling environment for accelerated development.

He appealed to residents and all stakeholders to support ongoing efforts to maintain peace, stressing that sustainable development could only be achieved in a peaceful and secure environment.
