Guantuahene of Abura Dunkwa cautions youth against drugs

By Samuel Ackon

Abura Dunkwa (C/R), Nov 04, GNA- Nana Kojo Dadzie II, Guantuahene of Abura Dunkwa in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District of the Central Region, has cautioned the youth of the town to stay away from hard drugs that could ruin their lives and that of others.

He said the continuous use of illicit drugs was alarming, saying that failure to crack down on the influx of these substances could lead to many wasted lives in some years to come.

The Guantuahene made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Abura Dunkwa.

Some of the drugs included cannabis, cocaine, mephedrone, tramadol, alcohol and many others.

The traditional ruler noted that drug abuse could modify perception, mood and cognitive behaviours.

He further admonished young people against experimenting with drugs because they could eventually lead them to drug addiction.

The Guantuahene pointed out that misuse of drugs posed a severe challenge in Abura Dunkwa, acting as a catalyst for economic woes and exerting a profound impact on the socioeconomic, public health, social and individual facets of the nation.

He therefore urged the entire society, comprising parents, religious bodies, politicians, educational institutions and civil society organisations to wage war against substance use by the youth.
