Takoradi, Nov. 03, GNA – Madam Emelia Arthur, the Minister for Fisheries has received a delegation from the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Sciences at the University for Development Studies (UDS), to seek the Ministry’s support in establishing a new aquaculture demonstration centre.
The establishment of the Centre was aimed at enhancing teaching, practical training, and research in the field of fisheries and aquaculture.
Led by Prof. Emmanuel D. Abarike, the delegation outlined the UDS’s vision to strengthen academic excellence and innovation in aquaculture.
Madam Arthur commended the University for its continued commitment towards advancing fisheries and aquaculture education in Ghana.
She assured them of the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate in making their initiative a success, adding that strengthening academic and research institutions remained central to driving innovation and sustainability in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
Such partnerships, between the government and academia were essential for developing a skilled workforce capable of transforming Ghana’s aquaculture industry and contributing meaningfully to national food security and economic growth, she said.
