Accra, Sept 21, GNA – Ten outstanding student companies drawn from various Senior High Schools are to showcase innovative business ideas and compete for a cash prize in the National Business Pitch Competition.
The winning company will represent Ghana at the Africa Regional level to compete alongside student entrepreneurs from other African countries.
The competition, under the theme: “Augmenting Innovation” challenges young entrepreneurs to harness the power of emerging technologies to enhance and strengthen existing ideas, products, and processes, a statement by Junior Achievement Ghana (JA Ghana), the organisers of the progamme, has said.
The event, which offers a platform for young people to showcase entrepreneurial potential and preparedness to contribute to Ghana’s economic development, will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the GNAT Hall, Accra from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..
“The NBPC is the culmination of JA Ghana’s Company Programme, an experiential entrepreneurship program that takes students beyond the classroom and gives them practical experience in developing, managing and pitching a business”, the statement said.
Over the course of the programme, students work through the entrepreneurial journey from identifying a problem and developing an idea, to creating prototypes, building their business models and preparing to pitch their solutions.
At the competition, the ten student companies would present their businesses before a distinguished panel of judges to be assessed on innovation, business viability, market potential, financial understanding, presentation, and the potential impact of their solutions.
The statement noted that beyond the competition, NBPC provided a platform for young people to demonstrate their creativity, entrepreneurial potential and readiness to contribute to Ghana’s economic development.
“It also creates an opportunity for educators, businesses, development partners and other stakeholders to engage with emerging young innovators and discover solutions developed by students themselves.
“The winning student company will receive ten thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 10,000) and will earn the opportunity to represent Ghana at the JA Africa Company of the Year (COY) Competition, where it will compete alongside student entrepreneurs from other African countries in December”, it said.
“The 2026 National Business Pitch Competition reinforces JA Ghana’s commitment to preparing young people with the skills, confidence, and entrepreneurial mindset needed to navigate an evolving world of work and contribute meaningfully to society”, it said.
