Tanokrom (WR) Nov 22, GNA – The Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly has initiated many development projects targeted at enhancing the living standards of the citizens.

The projects, include water and sanitation facilities, sports, health care and accommodation for teachers and school buildings.

Mr. Majid Dokrugu,  the Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly, said the interventions would nurture dreams, unearth potentials, and enhance dignity in communities.

The MCE indicated that funding sources for the projects were the District Assembly’s Common Fund, Internally Generated Fund and support from the Volta River Authority.

Mr Dokrugu said the commitment on the part of traditional leaders and other stakeholders as well as community engagement and involvement was a testament to what togetherness could achieve in raising livelihoods and building stronger communities.

He added that the future of the municipality looked brighter and presented hope and greater opportunities to unearth potential and unlock growth.

Mr Edward Ekow Obeng Kanzo, the Executive Director of the Volta River Authority, described the projects as transformative hence the need for sponsors to make positive impacts.

He added: “for as at VRA, we believe in community development, environmental sustainability and economic empowerment which underscore the importance of social amenities and our support for resilient communities.”

Mr  Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, praised the President for increasing the allocation to the DACF for local development.

He urged EKMA, in particular and the contractors, to carefully spend the funds for maximum results.

Mr. Nelson said quality of job must be a priority as the country had suffered from shoddy works over the years, adding, we will follow up and monitor.

Mr. Fiifi Buckman, Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim constituency, said contractors who had carried out shoddy works in the constituency would soon be summoned.
