GATA holds Excellence awards, special Father’s Day to honour Obrempon Nyanful Krampah XI

Agona Swedru (C/R), June 23, GNA – The Gomoa  Ajumako Traditional Area (GATA) has organised an excellenceaward for chiefs of the Area for their sterling performances which had immensely helped to uplift the image of chieftaincy in the Central region and beyond. 

The colourful event attended by paramount chiefs, divisional and sub-chiefs, judges, MMDCEs and queen mothers, coincided with a special FFather’s DDay to honour Obrempon  Nyanful Krampah XI,  Omanhenof Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area. 

 Obrempon Nyanful Krampah, also the President of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council, said the second edition of the excellence awards was held to inspire and encourage divisionaland sub-chiefs in their respective traditional areas to spur them on to pursue peace and development in their areas. 

He said the traditional council deemed it fit that some chiefs and queen mothers had worked hard to create job opportunities for young graduates, and provided vocational and technical skills training for the youth, and deserved to be recognised and awarded. 

According to him some chiefs single handedly, undertook self-help development projects in the areas of health, education, building of community centers, and the provision of portable drinking water, and had driven social cohesion among their people. 

Obrempon Nyanful Krampah said others had also facilitated educational pursuits for some youth in their traditional areas to gain admission to universities and other tertiary institutions to help build human capital, while some had built modern architectural palaces, lifting the image of the chieftaincy institution. 

Obrempon Nyanful Krampa lauded some divisional chiefs for assisting in the installation of more than 200 chiefs in the various towns and communities under the Council and also helped to reduce land and chieftaincy disputes to the lowest minimum, ensuring peace and stability in the area. 

The President of the Council commended chiefs, queen mothers and heads of family for preserving, defending and protecting their culture, tradition and customary laws. 

He pledged the preparednessof the Council to push the youth in the various communities and towns to pursue higher education, as well as vocational and ttechnical trainingessential for poverty reduction. 

Nana Okatakyi Idan Opirim IX, Apese makahene of GATA, who emerged as the overall best chief, praised  Obrempon Nyanful Krampah for his remarkable achievements ssince hescended the throne which had brbrought peaced development to the area. 

He said this year alone,the President oof Councileld a mass swearing-in fofor 200iefs and heads of famfamily, ael evenevent inannals of the chieftaincy institution in the country. 

He said the excellent awards was historic,, and it would be a permanent feature to inspire and encourage all to do more to promote customary laws of the land. 

Nana Okatakyi Idan Oipirim, also the chief of Gomoa Jukwa, stated that the recognition would spur him on to do kore for his people. 

He was optimistic that allthose who won awards would continue to press in their respective aareas andrged those yet to be awarded to work harder. 

 Obrempon Nyanful Krampah who received the grand lifetime achievement award, in his acceptance speech, praised the Council for the honour done him with their unwavering support and pledged to further seek the welfare of his people.
