Sunyani, (Bono), Nov. 12, GNA – Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, has called on the government to adequately resource the National and Regional House of Chiefs.
He said with adequate resources, the judicial committees of the houses could fast-track the amicable settlement of chieftaincy disputes.
Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Badu II also the Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area made the call when Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs paid a courtesy call on the Bono Regional House of Chiefs in Sunyani.
He expressed concern that the various judicial committees of the houses lacked adequate resources to effectively adjudicate cases, saying it was imperative for the government to allocate more funds to empower the committees to resolve the chieftaincy disputes.
Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Badu II said the nation ought to address the growing chieftaincy disputes through the judicial committees of the houses of chiefs, saying “in traditional courts, judges and other panel members are paid by the government to ensure that cases are properly handled”.
However, the lack of available funds to fast-track the adjudication of disputes before the judicial committees is worrying, he stated.
Osagyefo Agyemang Badu II said the Bono Regional House of Chiefs had prioritized and leveraged technology to enhance its operations.
He lauded the government’s ‘Operation Recover All’ (ORAL) initiative and urged the ORAL team to do more and prosecute suspects who had allegedly embezzled state funds, calling on the government to probe the National Cathedral project.
