Sunyani (BA), Nov. 23, GNA-The Bono Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against the publication of false news in the new media.
The caution followed a viral video of an alleged armed robbery incident that reportedly happened on the Berekum-Drobo highway in the region.
A statement issued and signed by Chief inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer of the Police administration said, “our preliminary checks indicate that no such incident happened as reported in the social media”
The command is therefore urging the public to always endeavour to verify every information to assess its authenticity before sharing it on social media.
A copy of the statement made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani urged the public with any credible information about the alleged armed robbery incidents, which reportedly happened November 18, 2025, to assist the police with their investigations.
It said the Cyber Crime Unit was taking steps to identify and invite individuals behind the publication of the video to assist with their investigations, saying, anyone found culpable would be prosecuted accordingly.
The statement assured the public of the Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order, asking for total cooperation in their investigations.
