Anloga (VR), Nov 14, GNA-Mr Richard Kwame Sefe, Member of Parliament (MP) for Anlo Constituency, has spearheaded an independent mock examination for all potential 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the constituency, aiming to boost educational outcomes and support pupils’ preparedness.”
The exercise, conducted during the week, covered pupils from about 64 Junior High Schools in the Anloga District.
The exercise was overseen by facilitators drawn from schools across the district and nearby districts to ensure transparency and credibility.
A team of officials from the District Education Directorate led by Mr Dominic Yao Dzanado, education stakeholders and the media accompanied the MP to monitor the two-day exercise.
A tour by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) of some centres revealed the exercise was generally calm and successful, with candidates expressing satisfaction with the examination.

Though some expressed diverse reasons of inadequate preparedness for the exercise, they maintained high hopes of preparing adequately for the main examination.
“We are happy to write these papers, though we just got promoted and are yet to fully prepare. But this examination has exposed us to what is really ahead of us and we have to start working hard from now. Thanks to our MP for this nice initiative,” one pupil shared.
Speaking on the initiative to the GNA, Mr Sefe highlighted the key challenges observed during the exercise.
“Through these interactions, we have identified several pressing issues, including inadequate classroom furniture, shortage of teaching staff, weak supervision, limited parental involvement, and in some instances, a lack of seriousness among a section of pupils.”
Assuring stakeholders of ongoing support, the MP noted that the government was making efforts to deploy additional teachers to address the staffing gaps.
Mr Sefe reaffirmed his personal commitment to working closely with the District Education Directorate to resolve challenges that continued to affect learning outcomes in the constituency.
All expenses, including honoraria for invigilators, examination materials, among other costs were borne fully by Mr Sefe.
He expressed satisfaction with the calm and orderly conduct of the exercise, despite acknowledging that there were minor setbacks, including a few cases of absenteeism among candidates.
Emphasising the shared responsibility for educational success, Mr Sefe called on parents, teachers, and community leaders to actively support students.
“We must all – parents, teachers, and community leaders take collective responsibility to guide and support our children to take their education seriously. Together, with unity of purpose and renewed dedication, we can transform the educational fortunes of Anlo and secure a brighter future for every child in our constituency. Education is our greatest investment in the future of Anlo, and together, we must protect it.”
The examination papers are set to be marked by independent examiners, followed by a comprehensive and scientific analysis aimed at providing a thorough assessment.
The findings from this exercise will inform strategies to better prepare the candidates for the 2026 BECE.
This initiative reflects Mr Sefe’s ongoing commitment to improving educational standards in Anloga and underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in shaping the academic future of the district’s youth.
