Accra Senior Open Tennis Championship kicks off today

Accra, Nov.24, GNA – The 23rd Accra Senior Open Tennis Championship has swung into action at the Accra Tennis Lawn Club, kicking off Day One with some interesting fierce competition. 

Mr Peter Annan, the Coordinator of the tournament, in an interview with the GNA Sport said participants would compete as social, semi-professional and professional players. 

He noted that the men’s singles would feature age categories of 25 to 34, 35 to 44, 45 to 54, 55 to 65, and 65+, while the women’s singles are set for 39, 40 to 49, and 50+.  

Additionally, the semi-professional event is also reserved for players aged 30–40 and 41+. 

In the doubles events, men would compete across age brackets ranging from 35 to 44 to 75 and above, while the women’s doubles will feature categories for players up to 39, 40 and above, along with semi-professional divisions for those aged 30 to 40 and 41+. 

He urged corporate Ghana come onboard and make the 23rd edition a success.  

This year’s tournament is under the auspices of the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) in collaboration with the Accra Lawn Tennis Club and other key partners.
