Accra, Oct. 13, GNA – The Millennium Class of 2000 of the Ghana School of law joined hundreds of Muslims at the National Central Mosque, Accra, on Friday for Jumu’ah prayers as a penultimate activity for their Silver Jubilee celebration.

The prayers underscored the lawyers’ gratitude, celebrating 25 years after being called to the bar, and acknowledgment of diverse faiths among its members.

It was preceded by a visit to the Office of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, who offered prayers for the Millennium Class, urging the members to continue to be good stewards of the legal profession.

The anniversary is on the theme: “Redefining Legal Education for Enhanced Democracy for the Next Generation.”

As the 2000-year group has members at the Supreme Court, Appeal Court, and High Courts, as well as Senior Police and Military commanders.

Key members of the class included Justice Ernest Gaewu, Supreme Court, Justice Oppong Twumasi, High Court, Justice Ken Kudjordzi, High Court, and Mr Alhaji Inusah Fuseini and Alhaji Ben Abdallah Banda, both politicians.

Mr Isaac Acheampong, the Chairperson of the Anniversary Planning Committee, emphasised the significance of the Silver Jubilee, stating that after 25 years in the profession, every milestone was worth celebrating, particularly given the challenges that could arise over such a long period.

He highlighted the need for continuous gratitude stressing that the decision to include a Jumu’ah prayer, alongside an upcoming Thanksgiving Service, reflected the diverse composition of the class and a shared conviction to thank God for their success.

“The class has already initiated a career and guidance counselling session with younger students and aims to continue this mentorship. The strategy is multifaceted, to mentor students from the ground up, advocate for necessary changes, and ultimately reform the entire legal human resource structure from A to Z,” he said.
