Keta Central Assembly Member organises clean-up exercise ahead of Hogbetsotso

Keta (VR) Oct 29, GNA – Mr. Gabriel Dzikunu, the Assembly Member of Keta Central, in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, has organised a clean-up exercise in the area ahead of this year’s Anlo Hogbetsotso festival.  

The exercise was eo prepare the community for the upcoming 2025 Anlo Hogbetsotso festival as well as keep the environment, including the beach clean and neat to welcome citizens from near and far for the celebration.  

Mr. Dzikunu, said that the other objective of the initiative was to restore the beauty of the communities and its beaches, which had become littered with waste and other materials and could not promote hygiene in the area.  

“The clean-up exercise drew a significant number of enthusiastic participants from the communities, all of whom were eager to contribute to the effort. Our collective efforts have resulted in a remarkable transformation of the beach area as well,” Mr. Dzikunu added.  

He explained that after hours of intense cleaning-up exercise, the communities and the beaches could now shine with renewed beauty while the transformation was truly amazing and served as a testament to the power of community togetherness and the importance of taking care of the environment.  

He said the initiative has been widely praised by many residents in the communities who were also committed to environmental cleanliness to inspire others with their efforts, which were expected to have a lasting impact on the community and beyond.  

Mr. Dzikunu said: “The success of this clean-up exercise today serves as a call to action for other colleague Assembly members to follow suit. We are working together, and we can ensure that our communities are clean, beautiful, and sustainable for future generations.  

Mr. Dzikunu said that the clean-up exercise has also demonstrated the importance of environmental cleanliness and the role that individuals have to play to maintain their communities to improve health and well-being as well as preserve the cultural heritage.  

Some participants, Ghana News Agency, interviewed, said that the Hogbetsotso festival was an important cultural event that brings together people from all over the country and ensuring that the communities were clean and beautiful, could showcase the culture and traditions in a positive light.  

They said the clean-up exercise has instilled a sense of pride in the community and also created more awareness about the importance of keeping the environment clean with various steps to ensure that many communities remain beautiful.  

Ghana News Agency also gathered that the success of the initiative was seen as a step towards a cleaner and more sustainable future for the communities which could build a brighter future for residents and future generations.  

They added that the moves by Keta Central Assembly Member of organising a clean-up exercise was a shining example of what could be achieved through community efforts and leadership and a called on other Assembly Members to work in unity with stakeholders, heads of institutions and residents to come together to build a cleaner, brighter and more sustainable community for all as 2025 Hogbetsotso Festival approached.  

The Hogbetsotso festival will be celebrated on Saturday, November 1, on the theme:” Building Bridges: From Common History to a Common Destiny”.
