Accra, Sept.18, GNA -The Northern Regional Police Command says it has restored calm at the Tamale Technical University, following an unlawful demonstration on Tuesday, September 16 2025.

A press release issued by Chief Inspector Luckman N. Alhassan, the Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), and copied to GNA said police men and women had been deployed on campus to avert a recurrence.

Recounting events that led to the Police intervention, he said, “Intelligence received indicated that at about 09:00am, students numbering about five hundred (500) massed up in front of the school’s administration block.”

“Upon receipt of the information, a team led by Supt/Mr. Richard Lantei Odartey was deployed to restore law and order,” it said.

“It was observed that, the demonstrating students had set ablaze vehicle tyres at the main entrance of the school (TAMASCO direction) and in front of the Police Post (Kpalsi direction) on the main road as well as in front of the Administration block.”

The students, the PRO said, became aggressive upon seeing the Police and started pelting stones, resulting in three students sustaining injuries as well as three Police Officers who are receiving treatment at the hospital.

He said, “No damage to school properties and Police facilities were recorded.”

“The team managed to bring the situation under control and restored calm to the school,” the Public Relations Unit said.
