GPGD Network to institute Ga-Dangme student awards at Ada College of Education

Ada, Sept. 09, GNA — The Graduates and Professionals of the Ga-Dangme Network (GPGD Network) have agreed to institute an award for Ga-Dangme students at the Ada College of Education. 

Mr. Emmanuel Obodai, the President of the GPGD Network, disclosing this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the initiative was to motivate the Ga-Dangme students to take their studies seriously to build a better future for themselves. 

Mr. Obodai said it would serve as a source of encouragement and inspiration for other Ga-Dangme students pursuing tertiary education. 

He indicated that to build partnerships with stakeholders, the executives of the network paid a working visit to the management of the Ada College of Education to explore opportunities for a collaboration to support Ga-Dangme and other students in accessing tertiary education. 

He said the courtesy call was also to identify areas for institutional support and development partnerships, as well as discuss resource mobilisation strategies to address the college’s pressing infrastructure and programme needs. 

Mr. Obodai He further added that this visit also aligned with the GPGD Network’s broader education advocacy agenda, which includes collaboration with Plan International and the Adenta Municipal Chief Executive on the “Reintegration of 3,000 School Dropouts” Project. 

Mr. Obodai disclosed that they would engage with potential partners, donors, and stakeholders to support the college’s development initiatives, while exploring opportunities for international collaborations and technical support and integrating the college’s needs into GPGD Network’s 2025/2026 education advocacy and fundraising agenda. 

Professor Prince Boateng, Principal of Ada College of Education, expressed gratitude to the GPGD Network for the visit, mentioning that the college faces challenges including limited support from traditional authorities, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient technical tools and resources for effective student training. 

Professor Boateng noted that the college and the network could collaborate for the construction of a sporting venue to host the 2026 inter-regional games for the Eastern, Volta, and Greater Accra Regions. 

He also called for the facilitation of partnerships with universities abroad to promote academic and cultural exchanges and provide technical equipment to enhance practical teaching and learning. 

He also pleaded for early grade and early childhood education programmes, the construction of an Astroturf football pitch through a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement, refurbishment of the library at an estimated cost of GHs 70,000, and construction of a restaurant and fencing on the college premises for improved safety and students’ welfare.
