Assin Ngresi (C/R) Sept. 20, GNA- The Gideon Care Foundation (GCF), in collaboration with the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) has screened about 500 people in the Assin Darmang/Ngresi electoral area and its surrounding communities for various health conditions.
The beneficiaries who showed up as early as 07:00 hours, were registered on arrival and directed to the designated points of service, ensuring efficient delivery.
Reconstructive plastic surgery and orthopaedic eye screening including burns, scars, neurofibromas, tumor excision, mammoplasty, cataracts, glaucoma, fractures, and dislocations were some of the health issues seen.
Dr Edmond Acheampong, the Head of the medical team from CCTH, said some of the patients were reviewed and asked to present their X-rays for advice and medication.
He said those with mild conditions were given medication, while about 90 people diagnosed with serious conditions were referred to the CCTH for surgery at the expense of GCF.
In addition, he admonished patients not to indulge in self-education as that might result in dangerous health complications.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to GCF for giving them the opportunity to access quality healthcare without any cost.
Mr Gideon Gyetia, an entrepreneur and philanthropist, said the brain behind the exercise was to invest in the healthcare of the people as a way of giving back to society devoid of politics.
He inspected the process briefly and interacted with both healthcare professionals and the beneficiaries.
Mr Gyetia admonished the beneficiaries to take the advice from the medical team on their conditions seriously.
As a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Gyetia is seeking the support of delegates to vote for him as Parliamentary Candidate of Assin South Constituency, and for Mr Kennedy Adjapong to lead the NPP in the 2028 general elections.
