Winneba (C/R), Sept 24, GNA – The Ghana Home Economics Association (GHEA), will this year celebrate a significant national milestone of its 60 years of existence in the country.
It is to provide a platform to reflect on their journey, honour pioneers and stakeholders and chart a progressive path into the future.
The Diamond Jubilee on the theme: “60 years of Home Economics in Ghana;The past, the present and the Future,” will commence from Tuesday, September 30, to Saturday October 04, 2025, at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Height Hall, Accra.
Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Minister for Education is expected to grace the event as the special Guest of Honour, Chief Dr Doliwura Zakaria, Managing Director of National Investment Bank (NIB), the Chairman and Prof Hosea L Chishala, International Federation of Home Economics Executive Committee member for Africa Region, Zambia, the Keynote Speaker.
It also promises to have other speakers including; Mrs Edith Francois, Dr Mrs Esther Amoah and Togbe Foe Tsali Il, from diverse backgrounds speaking to contemporary issues in Home Economics and on the theme to inform both policy and practice.


Madam Comfort Madah Kutum, President of the Association told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Winneba that, Ghana Home Economics Association was the professional body for all Home Economics teachers, Lecturers and Individuals in related fields, recognised by the International Federation of Home Economics.
According to her, GHEA has, for six decades, championed the promotion of practical education, skilled development, family well-being and national socio-economic saying the Diamond jubilee’s targeted audience included, Home Economics Jewels, Teachers, Lecturers, Practitioners, Students and other stakeholders.
She stated that there will be Anniversary Conference (Joint workshop with T-TEL), under the theme “Exploring the new home economics curriculum for enhanced learning outcomes” as well as featuring exhibition, public media engagement, awards night among others to commemorate the celebration.
“We are humbly appealing for support from all and sundry to ensure the success of this historic celebration to honour six decades of professional service in Ghana and also contribute meaningfully to the future of education and vocational environment.
