Dormaa-Ahenkro, (Bono), Sept. 16, GNA -Mr Thomas Amstrong Asante, the Headmaster of the Dormaa Senior High School (DORMASS) in the Bono Region has appealed for support to improve the school’s drainage systems.

He expressed worry that the poor drainage, particularly around the girl’s dormitory, was contributing to poor sanitation, explaining that “wastewater finds its way back into the girl’s dormitory bathtub, causing an eyesore in the area”.
Mr Asante said it is difficult for the school to improve the situation “because of the rocky nature of the ground. It’s extremely hard to dig to create a channel for free flow of water from the bathtub into the gutters”.
The headmaster made the appeal at the annual congress of the Old Students Association of the school at Dormaa-Ahenkro, attended by some old students, traditional authorities and teachers.
Mr Asante noted that the poor drainage system around the girls’ dormitory area remained a nuisance attracting huge public outcry from residents in the enclave.
He stated that “Recently, an assistant headmaster of the school was nearly beaten by some residents because of issue,” and appealed to old students, individuals and corporate organisations to come to their aid to improve the sanitation situation.
Mr Asante said the school also required support to re-fence the facility, especially the wall around the Jorjor residential area.
He explained that the school had established a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) with Barimah Kwadwo Damoah Afari, Sanaahene (divisional chief) of the Dormaa Traditional Area leading and that the Association had set up a committee working on the construction of the fence wall.
