Adaklu Have (V/R), Sept. 27, GNA – A three-unit classroom block, with an office, a staff common room and a store was on Friday commissioned for the Adaklu Have Evangelical Presbyterian Church Primary School in the Adaklu Kodzobi Electoral Area of the Adaklu district.

The GHC1million project was funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GetFund).

Mr. Jerry Ameko, the  Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE) speaking at the ceremony, lamented the fallen standard of education in the district.

He said this should be a worry to all.

He implored all stakeholders as traditional and religious leaders, Assembly Members and parents to come together to find a lasting solution to the situation.

Mr. Ameko suggested that as an interim measure, a ban should be placed on playing music after burial on Saturdays through Sundays in all communities in the district.

He noted that this would curtail the nuisance of pupils and students using their study hours to make merry during funerals.

He told the gathering that, henceforth, children who could not read would not be promoted and urged pupils in the district to take their studies seriously.

The DCE intimated that some parents had neglected their parental responsibilities resulting in children of such parents becoming wayward.

He urged parents to see their children as “the most precious gifts from God” and invest their resources in them to enable them to bring out their talents.

Mr. Ameko said Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways who doubles as Member of Parliament for Adaklu, in collaboration with the District Assembly and NGOs, was working hard to eliminate all schools under trees in the district by providing them with modern classroom blocks.

He praised the Minister for not only his support for education but also for other sectors in the district.

The DCE tasked School Management Committees to support teachers to enable them to put in their maximum best to improve teaching and learning.

He entreated the community to cultivate the culture of maintenance and take good care of the facility to prolong its lifespan.

Similar projects were commissioned at Adaklu Kpeleho and Adaklu Sofa.
