Agona Asafo installs Nana Kwesi Tenkorang II as new Gyantuahene

Asafo (C/R), Sept 10, GNA- A renown Lawyer, Mr Mohammed Baadei Sanu, has been installed as the new Gyantuahene of Agona Asafo by the stool name Nana Kwesi Tenkorang II, to promote, peace, unity and youth empowerment for future development.  

Nana Tenkorang succeeded his late uncle, Nana Kwesi Tenkorang , known in private life as Professor Kwesi Botchwey, the longest serving Finance Minister under former President, Jerry John Rawlings regime.  

A spokesperson of the Gyantuahene , Mr Isaac Kojo Nti, said the new position would inspire Nana Tenkorang to build upon the legacy of his late uncle.  

He expressed gratitude to Asafoman Council of Chiefs and the entire citizens for their co-operation and unity that culminated in Nana Tenkorang’s  elevation, adding that he would serve as a mentor to the youth of Agona Asafo.  

His topmost priority, he indicated, was to promote the education of the youth in the town and would subsequently roll out skill training for young ladies to acquire vocation like fashion designing and hair dressing among others to enhance their livelihood.  

Mr Nti said acquiring skills training was the best way to go in the new technological era, and that some youths were being trained to handle and drive heavy duty machines and others in the mining sector.  

The spokesperson said already, some ten youth at Asafo had currently been employed at the New Mont Mining Company in Bono region of Ghana, while effective measures were in place to organise ICT skill training for the youth.  

Mr Nti who is also a mining Engineer, admonished the youth of Agona Asafo to say no to red drug , wee, tramodol and trapadiod, adding that indulging in hard drugs would destroy them.  

He also cautioned the young ladies to abstain from immorality and any lifestyle that would militate against their progression in life, especially in the pursuit of further education which was key to socio-economic advancement.  

Mr Nti said Nana Kwesi Tenkorang had promised to unite the Aburadze family to become a formidable force to foster peace and development.  

 A football gala was organised in honour of Prof Kwesi Botchwey a trophy, cash prizes and others were given to the winners, best player and the best team.
