Ho, Sept. 12, GNA – Thirty adolescents in Ho Dome have been given hands-on exposure to robotics, electronics, and virtual reality during a bootcamp organised under the Healthy Cities for Adolescents (HCA) programme.
The session, held at Ho Dome E. P. Basic School, formed part of an exchange visit with the Alza Tu Voz – Raise Your Voice team, from Ecuador.
Facilitators guided the young participants through the basics of robotics design, electronic circuits, and immersive VR experiences, offering both theoretical insights and practical exercises.
Mr. Felix Sam, lead facilitator, said the bootcamp was designed to break down complex technological concepts into fun, accessible lessons for adolescents.
“We introduced the participants to what makes a robot – controllers, actuators, and sensors – while also teaching them how simple circuits work using LEDs, resistors, and voltage calculations,” he explained.
The highlight of the day was the practical session, where participants worked in teams to assemble circuits and experiment with VR headsets.

The energy in the room soared as students watched LEDs light up for the first time and navigated virtual outer space through headsets, sparking excitement and curiosity.
A participant described the moment as “an unforgettable experience,” adding that the opportunity to work with peers from Ecuador made it even more meaningful.
The organisers said the exchange was aimed at equipping adolescents with digital skills while promoting cross-cultural learning and collaboration among youth from intermediary cities.
“This is more than just technology; it is about empowering young people to think creatively, solve problems, and imagine a better future,” Mr. Sam noted.
The Alza Tu Voz team also expressed their delight at the collaboration, describing the bootcamp as proof of how innovation could bridge cultures and strengthen youth participation.
Day two of the exchange demonstrated how innovation and digital literacy can advance adolescent well-being, inclusion, and active participation in shaping healthier cities.
The HCA programme continues to champion adolescent empowerment across different countries, using education, innovation, and cross-border collaboration as tools for transformation.
