2005 year group of Ketabusco celebrates 20th Anniversary, launch of silver jubilee project

Keta (VR), Sept 10, GNA-The 2005 Year group of Keta Business College, in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, has celebrated their 20th anniversary and launched a silver jubilee project reflecting on the group’s time at the college and their plans for the future. 

The project when completed is expected to bring relief to the college and uplift the learning and teaching standard for the best. 

Mr. Wise Kportufe, the National President of Ketabusco old students, in his address during the ceremony, took the audience on a nostalgic journey through the group’s time at the college and recalled the challenges they faced which included inadequate infrastructure and punishment by masters and seniors. 

“The theme for our celebration, is “Remembering the past, embracing the future,” we the theme that reflect on our life journey, and a look forward to the future with hope and optimism,” he said. 

He explained that group’s silver jubilee project was to build an ultra-modern business hub for the college which would serve as a source of income for the school and provide a printing hub for neighbouring schools and the communities. 

He said that the estimated cost of the project was staged at GH₵ 500,000, and the 2005 Year group aimed to raise the funds by 2029 for the commencement of the project to uplift the standard of the school. 

“I am challenging our young ones here to make good use of their time at the college, take their books seriously, and seek out mentors who are past students of the school. Students must learn to say no to things that will not advance their personal goals and ambitions.” 

Mr. Kportufe said that the 2005 Year group had achieved great things over the past 20 years, including donating dining hall tables and benches to the school while the group had also been involved in various activities such as reunions and outreach programmes for the development and progress of the school. 

He said the group planned to continue and support the college and its students and would work towards completing the business hub project to demonstrate their commitment to making a positive impact on the school and the community. 

Mr. Frank Lawoe,the immediate past president of the group, in his turned, expressed optimism about the future and the group’s plans to make a positive impact on the college and advised students to take their studies seriously and seek out mentors who could guide and support them to achieve greater and make a positive impact on their communities. 

Madam Matilda Dzotefe, the Headmistress of Keta Business College, thanked 2005 Year group and other old students for their kind gestures that were testament to the power of success and the importance of celebrating achievements.  

She acknowledged the group’s plans for the future ambition and the commitment to making a positive impact on the college and the community and urged other old students to emulate the examples to inspire others. 

GNA gathered that the group further organised a health walk, donated cadet uniforms and other related accoutrements to the school and awarded citations to some hardworking old students.
