Volta Regional Political Coordinator Engages Leadership on Party–Government Collaboration

By Michael Foli Jackidy

Ho (V/R), Aug. 27, GNA – Mr. Ben Siki Abibu, Presidential Staffer and Political Coordinator for the Volta Region, has held a working meeting with political appointees, party executives, and Members of Parliament (MPs) from six constituencies in the region.

The constituencies included Agotime-Ziope, Ho Central, Ho West, Adaklu, South Dayi, and Akatsi South. The engagement forms part of Mr. Abibu’s regional tour to align his office with party structures, government appointees, and other stakeholders.

At the Ho meeting, attended by Mr. Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, MP for Ho Central; Mr. Stephen Adom, Municipal Chief Executive; and constituency executives, discussions focused on clarifying the mandate of the new office and exploring collaboration among the executive, government appointees, and party leadership in the municipality.

Mr. Abibu, who also serves as Regional Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), was accompanied by Acting Regional Secretary Mr. Bright Ege. He underscored the need to strengthen ties among the three pillars of the party—executive, MP, and MCE—for effective governance and political work.

Following frank and constructive deliberations, participants agreed on the importance of closing ranks, resolving differences, and promoting unity in the collective interest of the party, government, and the wider membership in Ho Central.

Mr. Abibu cautioned political actors against selfishness and the pursuit of personal interests at the expense of collective decisions, urging fairness and inclusivity in the sharing of opportunities associated with their responsibilities.

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Mawunyo Agbe, Regional Vice Chair and MASLOC Coordinator; Mr. Saviour Amakpa, NHIA Manager; Mr. Christian Youngs, NADMO Director; Mr. Eric Lusty Dzikpor, Municipal YEA Coordinator; and other constituency executives.

The engagement formed part of Mr. Abibu’s familiarisation tour of the Volta Region, during which he has interacted with Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCs), MPs, security services, assemblies, as well as traditional and religious leaders.

His next round of engagements will focus on the security services, before concluding with traditional and religious leaders by September 13.

The Volta Regional Political Coordinator’s office is expected to serve as a trusted liaison, championing effective governance, unity, and development through strong coordination between the Presidency, regional stakeholders, and the citizenry.

The role also seeks to advance the President’s agenda in the region by fostering synergy among political appointees, traditional authorities, security agencies, civil society, and the public, while ensuring transparent communication, responsive governance, and effective monitoring of programmes for national progress.
