Anyako (VR), Aug 16, GNA- Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui, the Dufia of Anyako-Konu and the Paramount Chief of Amugo-Vego Traditional Area, in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, has stated that education was a key to shaping the future for all.
“No school going child should be denied access,” he stressed.
He said education widens one’s mind and it for various tasks ahead for successful and better future outcomes.
Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, during the inauguration of renovated library by SOS Hermann Gmeiner International College students, urged all parents and the public, to, as a matter of urgency support every student in their education.
“Education is very important to everybody, and we must not deny any child from accessing it, we must help to inculcate and reshape their future for the best,” he said.
He explained that education was a fundamental right that should be accessible to all children regardless of their background or socio-economic status and noted that education was a key to unlocking potentials of children which would enable them to contribute meaningfully to the development of various communities.
Togbi Gligui said that the impact of the project would be felt beyond the individual beneficiaries and urged the public to support their respective wards to access the facility to read, learn and acquire new and more knowledge to shape them for greater future.
He appealed to stakeholders including parents, teachers, and all community leaders to work together to ensure that all children have access to quality education as well as support the READ project to bridge the education gap in the area.
“Education is a powerful tool for development, it enables individuals to acquire knowledge, skills, and values that are essential for personal and societal growth, it can also break the cycle of poverty and promote economic development.”
He pledged to collaborate with organisations, individuals, philanthropists, stakeholders to ensure that all children in and out of his jurisdiction have access to quality educational opportunities.
Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui also urged students of Anyako SHS to read more books to enable them to open their minds, adding that, “reading is the lamp of the world and a page read is always a step forward.”
He said the newly renovated reading room was more than a space for books but a gateway to the world, a workshop for the mind, and a sanctuary for dreams which needed to be embraced.
Some parents and teachers expressed excitement and satisfaction about the call and pledged to enable all school going children to have access to education.
