Helicopter Crash: Tijanniya Islamic Group condoles bereaved families, offers prayers

Prang, (Bono East), Aug. 10, GNA – The Tijanniya Islamic Group at Prang in the Pru West District of the East Bono East has offered prayers for the departed souls of the eight people who died in the military helicopter crash. 

A government delegation led by Mr Francis Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister joined the thousands of Muslims, Islamic clerics and scholars for the prayers held at the Prang Central Mosque. 

The delegation comprised Mr Emmanuel Kofi Ntekuni, the Member of Parliament for Pru West; Mr Samuel Agyapong, the Pru West District Chief Executive, as well as some regional and constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). 

Sheikh Ahmad Abulfaid Maikano, the Supreme leader of the Group who led the prayers said it was part of this year’s Maulid, an annual religious gathering of the group, praying that Allah would accept “their souls and grant them eternal peace”. 

He expressed their condolences to the bereaved families, saying, “Allah shall also grant solace and strength to the families and loved ones of our great men during this difficult time”. 

Mr Antwi, the Regional Minister said the government appreciated the compassion and concern shown by the group, praying that “the memories of our fallen comrades will continue to inspire us to work towards a better future for our nation”. 

The late Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister for Defence; and Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation died in the fatal crash which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region Wednesday August 6, 2025.
