Accra, Aug. 3, GNA- Ms Constance Swaniker, the Founder of Design and Technology Institute (DTI), says Ghana must prepare a workforce that is globally competitive able to serve in Germany, in Dubai, in Nairobi, and here at home.
She said with the right policies and partnerships, TVET could become the national engine for industrialisation, youth employment, and inclusive prosperity.
Ms Swaniker, who is also the President, was speaking at the 2025 Job and Opportunities Fair in Accra.
The two-day event was on the theme: “The Career Expedition: Pathways, Partnerships, Possibilities –A Mindset Journey towards Self-discovery.”
She said they launched the Fair with a simple but powerful idea: that mindset, not just opportunity, must be at the heart of the national development agenda.
She said the world was looking for builders, makers, problem-solvers, people who could create, fix, and innovate.
The Founder said the development of Ghana’s human capital was not the sole responsibility of the government but rather it was a shared national agenda.
She said success in today’s job market depended equally on soft skills: emotional intelligence, personal branding, etiquette, adaptability, and the ability to communicate with confidence.

Ms Swaniker said they believed that every young person must be equipped not just to qualify for jobs, but to command the room when the opportunity comes.
“We also explore the power of entrepreneurship, not simply as a fallback, but as a legitimate, viable, and scalable pathway to wealth creation,” she added.
She said they recognise that over 300,000 young people enter Ghana’s labour market each year, and too many of them were left without clear pathways.
“Through platforms like this, we aim to co-create those pathways—linking education, industry, and policy in a way that serves the next generation,” she said.
“At DTI, we are committed to reimagining TVET and we are working to redefine what it means to be skilled, employable, and future-ready,” she said.
She said they achieved this by anchoring their efforts in four core values: Quality, Integrity, Accountability, and Innovation.
“We are also grateful to all our partners, especially the Mastercard Foundation, whose unwavering
belief in systems change continues to unlock pathways for thousands of young Ghanaians,” the Founder added.
