Amenfi (W/R), July 8, GNA – Tetrete Foundation, an education-oriented NGO, has called for support to help complete the Amenfi State University College which has been under construction for the past four years.
Mr Shadrach Ainoo, Executive Director, of the Foundation, said the University will not only train and develop the human resources in the region but serve as an institution rooted in research to tackle contemporary issues.
He made the call during a fundraising durbar, themed “Building a Legacy for Wassa Amenfi” and was held at the Amenfiman Senior High School in the Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region towards the completion of the University.
Mr Ainoo said: “The Amenfi State University College is crucial for the human resource development in our region and Ghana at large. I humbly call on Indigenes and well-meaning Ghanaians to come on board to help complete the University.”
He said the Western Region abounds with abundant natural resources, however, the region had had limited number of universities, adding that there was the need to add more higher tertiary institutions for the development of the natural and human resources.
Mr Ainoo said the Tetrete Foundation over the years had significantly contributed in the development of the youth by offering scholarships and internship opportunities to interested youth in communities, adding that they had also trained them with vocational skills.
Nana Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim, Omanhene, Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, said education had always been a catalytic tool to human development and the progress had always been invaluable and immeasurable.


He said a further delay in completing the project meant a drawback of the communities goals and aspirations and urged all and sundry to assist in the completion of the university on time.
Also present at the fundraising was Mr Nicholas Amankwah, Member of Parliament for Amenfi East, who gave an assurance to the public of his unwavering support and commitment towards the completion of the university in the Municipality.
Mr Raymond Nana Ebbah, Amenfi East Municipal Chief Executive, said the completion of the university aligned with the government resetting agenda for an even development in the country.
Awards were presented to previous donors for their immense support for the project and almost one million Ghana Cedi was raised towards the completion of the university.
