Pastors urged to champion good sanitation practices in local communities

By Nana Kwame Essel

Twifo Ntafrawaso (C/R), July 08, GNA – Nana Gyamera Akoto II, the Ankobeahen of Twifo Traditional Area, has entreated pastors to use their pulpits to preach about good sanitation practices and encourage their congregations to participate in the National Sanitation Day exercise.

Expressing concerns about the lukewarm attitude of some people towards the exercise, Nana Akoto regretted that many church members across the country often failed to participate in clean-up exercises in their localities.

He emphasised the importance of biblical teachings in promoting cleanliness and urged spiritual leaders to inspire their congregation to take part in future sanitation exercises.

Assembly Members from the Twifo Ntafrawaso and Eduabeng Konyanko Electoral areas, who participated in the last National Sanitation Day, called on local councils and the government to help address the issues.

According to Messrs Richard Arthur and Latif Adei, one of the significant challenges they faced was tools and food for workers during community initiatives.

They appealed to local government officials to maintain closer collaboration with Assembly Members during events such as clean-up exercises.

They emphasised the importance of teamwork to foster a clean and healthy environment for the community.

Mr Isaac Yawson, the District Chief Executive for Twifo Atti Morkwa, appealed to government appointees to carry out their duties diligently to aid the successful realisation of President John Mahama’s campaign promises in the region.
