Ho (V/R), July 3, GNA â The newly inaugurated Governing Board of Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH), led by Dr. Delanyo Yao Tsidi Dorvlo, has engaged staff and management to discuss key priorities for the hospitalâs transformation, emphasising improved quality of care, accountability, and a renewed focus on medical tourism.

Addressing the staff at the facility on Wednesday, Dr. Dorvlo highlighted that the boardâs early interactions revealed several critical areas requiring urgent attention.
Top among them is the quality of care, which he said must translate into greater patient satisfaction.
âWe acknowledge that many improvements have been made, but these must reflect in the experiences of our patients,â he stated.
He stressed the need for clear accountability structures within the hospital and identified infrastructure challengesâsuch as inadequate bed capacity, outdated facilities, unreliable oxygen supply, and power systemsâas areas needing immediate and strategic investment.

âWe are committed to identifying and prioritizing issues, despite limited resources, and investing in areas that will bring swift, impactful change,â he said.
Dr. Dorvlo also emphasised the need to position HTH as a center for medical tourism, a vision supported by the Ministry of Health.
âImproving service quality not only benefits local patients but also makes the hospital a destination for health care across Ghana and beyond,â he added.
He praised the diverse expertise of the newly constituted board and expressed confidence in their ability to steer the hospital toward excellence.
âTogether, with your support, we hope to make HTH an example for other teaching hospitals across the country,â he concluded.
Dr. Hintermann Mbroh, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of HTH, described the engagement as a vital opportunity to align governance, management, and staff toward a shared mission.
âThis meeting marks a new phase in deepening our institutional commitment to strategic excellence and service delivery. We are one team, with one vision,â he noted.
Dr. Koku Awoonor-Williams, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Health, reinforced the government’s vision to establish HTH as a hub for medical tourism in Ghana.
He emphasised the need for strong patient-provider relationships, quality care, and hospitality.
âHTH must leverage its unique location, its affiliation with the University of Health and Allied Sciences, and its highly trained staff to become a national and international center of medical excellence,â he said.
He encouraged staff to continue delivering high-quality care while contributing to the hospitalâs growing reputation.
âYour professionalism is the foundation on which we will build this vision,â he added.
