Takoradi, July 28, GNA- Mr Smart Kwoffie, a former Assembly member for Wassa Afransi in the Western region has called on the government to give those in remote communities their fair share of the nation’s resources.
He revealed that roads in his area were in deplorable state, making commuting from one end to the other a herculean task for both workers and farmers.
The Former Assembly Member for Wasa Afransi, therefore implored upon the government to pay attention to the area and fix their road networks to improve upon the livelihoods of the people.
Mr. Kwoffie, also a professional teacher told the Ghana News Agency in reaction to the one Ghana cedi levy on Petroleum product proposed by the government.
Though, he was not against the introduction of the levy, he was worried that such levies had little impact on the ordinary Ghanaian particularly those in hamlets and remote areas of the country.
He said, “we are really suffering, because our roads are bad, drivers continue to charge higher prices and a journey which should take about five minutes takes us over 40 minutes… the government should come to our aid”.
