Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), July 30, GNA – Mr Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive in the Bono Region, has cautioned young people in the area against drug abuse and peddling, saying it can ruin their future.
He expressed worry about the growing abuse of tramadol (Red), marijuana, cocaine and alcoholism among the youth in the municipality.
Mr Ameyaw, instead, advised the youth to take advantage of the government’s policies and programmes like the Youth Apprenticeship Programme, and learn other employable skills towards future livelihoods and jobs.
He gave the advice when he visited some churches in the Municipality, and urged girls to also abstain from pre-marital sex, saying, teenage pregnancy and unsafe abortion could ruin their lives as well. Mr Ameyaw said reports by the Ghana Health Service indicated a high incidence of cohabitation among the youth in the area.
He called on the people to support the Assembly and the Dormaa Traditional Council’s cleanup campaign to improve waste management and environmental sanitation, saying, the Assembly was working tirelessly to get impressive scores on the grading and performance assessment on sanitation.
He said a taskforce had been formed to strictly enforce the sanitation byelaws, and urged the people to remain law abiding citizens, pledging the assembly’s commitment to reshape the Ahantrase road.
The Reverend Joseph Bediako, Pastor in charge of Dormaa North Faith Assemblies of God Church, called on the people to build their faith in God and to overcome life challenges.
