Accra, July 17, GNA- Delta Air Lines has been awarded the Best American Blood Sponsor for the eighth consecutive year asemployees, retirees and customers contributed to setting a record by donating 16,178 units of blood in 2025.
The airline has been steadfast in its commitment to life-giving blood drive and has made it the foremost corporate blood drive sponsor of the American Red Cross for the eighth time, a release issued to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, by the Kingdom Concepts Consult said.
Mr. Chris Hrouda, President of Biomedical Services, American Red Cross, expressed his profound gratitude to Delta for thelongstanding partnership as a blood drive sponsor who has helped saved countless lives.
He said that blood donation was essential as the need for blood supply was often at its lowest during the summer months.
“We are deeply grateful to Delta for its longstanding partnership as a blood drive sponsor,” he said.
“Our need for committed partners becomes even more critical. Delta’s continued leadership as our top blood drive sponsor for the eighth consecutive year plays a vital role in ensuring patients in need receive lifesaving blood.
“Thank you for standing with us to help save countless lives.”
Mr. Tad Hutcheson, Managing Director, Community Engagement expressed his appreciation to the individuals who contributed by donating blood to the blood drive program and made it a success.
“Thank you to everyone who makes a difference by rolling up their sleeves to give blood and help save lives all year long, and a special thanks goes out to our blood drive program leaders for their commitment to making every drive and every unit count,” the release said.
Delta has hosted 386 blood drives across 79 locations and added two new drive locations, expanding support in the communities where employees live, work and serve.
It has expanded its blood drive program by partnering with its sponsorship team for joint community drives with Atlanta, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and Seattle Delta-sponsored sports teams.
The airline also joined the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in partnership with the Red Cross by sponsoring the HBCU Ambassador program which consists of 137 blood drives at 38 HBCUs across the country.
In addition to blood donations, Delta is an Annual Disaster Giving Program member at the $1 million level, supporting the Red Cross in advance of disasters.
The Red Cross is Delta’s longest standing not-for-profit partnership dating back to 1941 when Delta people donated and carried blood in WWII.
