Tarkwa (W/R), July 16, GNA – The Wassa West District Office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has received support from the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation (GFGF) for people living in hard-to-reach communities to benefit from the scheme.
The Foundation presented three laptop computers and two receipt printers worth over GHÂą31,000 to the beneficiary institution.
Mr Abdel-Razak Yakubu, Executive Secretary of GFGF, explained that the primary objective of the donation was to aid NHIA’s effort to extend service to undeserved areas in the Tarkwa Nsuaem and Prestea Huni-Valley Municipalities.
He said “Many people cannot afford the long journey to the NHIA’s office at Ahwetieso for registration. I believe with the move made by the Foundation; more Ghanaians will have access to quality healthcare through the National Health Insurance Scheme”.
“We have an agreement with the Wassa west district to provide registration and other services to our host communities anytime we organize medical outreach. The premium is usually paid by the GFGF for those registered,” Mr Yakubu indicated.
Mr Francis Aduamah, District Manager of Wassa West, NHIA, who received the items emphasized that the GFGF had demonstrated commitment to its mandate and Cooperate Social Responsibility in healthcare delivery.
“In the same spirit of collaboration, the Foundation is generously supporting the Wassa West District, and we thank them for their human-centric approach to healthcare, and look forward for more aids” he mentioned
According to Mr Aduamah, the donation would streamline their registration process, reduce delays, and inconvenience, adding that, it would also help advance their goal of achieving universal health coverage by 2030.
He said, “Previously the Wassa west district office had challenged generating receipts for its clients because they did not have the equipment. GFGF’s contribution would help address this issue from henceforth”.
