Accra, June 4, GNA – Clashes between Farmers and Cattle Herders have for the past years witnessed significant destruction, hatred and animosity.
While there had been mistrust between the combatants, the government and stakeholders had, had to surmount all ant-hill tasks to iron out their differences and establish peaceful co-existence.
To buttress the activities of the government and its stakeholders, the WANEP-Ghana, in partnership with Oxfam-Ghana with support from DANIDA, organised a one-day workshop for stakeholders on its Sustainable and Empowering Peace Project (SEPP) at Tatale-Sanguli, Zabzugu and West Gonja Districts.
The project aims to prevent and manage farmer-herder conflicts in these districts as part of the collective efforts of the partners to rid Ghana and West Africa of climate-induced conflicts that arise between farmers and cattle herders.
The project on farmer-herder conflicts which started in 2022 is being implemented at Tatale, Zabzugu and West Gonja Municipality.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after the three workshops, Mr Fuseini Seidu, National Early Warning system Manager of WANEP Ghana said it had brought in positive impacts as farmers and herders collaborated to deal with the conflicts.
He commended the stakeholders for making everything handy for conflict resolution.
