Tuobodom, (Bono East), June 25, GNA- Mr Johnson Kwabena Adom, the Techiman North Municipal Chief Executive in the Bono East Region has urged the unemployed youth and graduates to leverage government programmes to fetch themselves decent jobs and better their socio-economic livelihoods.

He said President Mahama’s ‘Adwumawura’ Programme, Feed Ghana Initiative and the National Apprenticeship Programme were all geared towards job creation and poverty reduction, asking the youth to brace themselves and capitalize on those programmes.

Interacting with the media at Tuobodom, the Municipal capital, Mr Adom said there were numerous other employable skills training opportunities being implemented by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA and the National Youth Agency (NYA).

He said employable skills training provided ready jobs and held the key to poverty emancipation and asked the youth to engage themselves in the various models. On completion beneficiaries would also obtain support to build their own businesses.

Mr Adom said youth empowerment remained an integral component of building a resilient economy, saying “that’s why President Mahama has introduced all those policies and programmes to create decent jobs for the youth, become financially reliant and to live dignified lives”.

He also urged those with entrepreneurial ideas to make use of the YEA office in the Municipality for mentorship and capital and to begin their own businesses.

“The Feed Ghana Initiative encourages the youth to engage in commercial farming and livestock, producing more food for both domestic use and export”, Mr Adom explained, saying the YEA through the National Apprenticeship Programme sought to create more jobs for the youth through employment through skills training.

Mr Adom said the Assembly intended to begin a large-scale farming project under the Feed Ghana Initiative, as a job creation alternative and improving food productivity in the area.

He commended President Mahama for facilitating the disbursement of the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) and assured the assembly readiness to innovate and improve on its Internally Generated Funds to facilitate the development of the Municipality.
