By Rihana Adam, GNA

Accra, May 20, GNA – Mr. Ivan Bruce Cudjoe, popularly known as ‘IBC’, has filed his nomination forms to contest for the presidency of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) ahead of the upcoming congress and elections scheduled for June 4, 2026.

Mr. Bruce Cudjoe presented his documents to the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the GBA at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Speaking to the media after filing his nomination, he said his decision to contest was informed by the need to promote transparency, discipline and good governance in Ghana boxing.

According to him, the time was ripe for him to serve the boxing fraternity and help reposition the sport for greater success.

Mr Bruce Cudjoe said he intended to extend boxing activities to all 16 regions of the country, discover and nurture hidden talents capable of becoming world champions.

He said many young talents across the country remained untapped and required the needed exposure and support to excel in the sport.

He expressed concern about the frequent early-round defeats suffered by some Ghanaian fighters during international bouts.

Mr Bruce Cudjoe promised an open-door administration that would ensure fairness and inclusiveness for all stakeholders in boxing.

He further pledged to support retired boxers and coaches to secure employment opportunities with the National Sports Authority to scout and train amateur boxers who could become future champions.

He also assured national title holders of opportunities to fight for Commonwealth titles and pledged to create avenues for Ghanaian boxers to participate in contests organised by major world boxing bodies such as the World Boxing Council, International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Organization and World Boxing Association.

According to him, this would help Ghanaian fighters gain world rankings and eventually compete for world titles.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ellis Quaye, a partner of Cabic Promotions, also filed his nomination for the position of Second Vice President.

Other candidates contesting various positions were also present at the stadium to submit their nomination forms.

In another development, the IMC of the GBA has held a stakeholders’ meeting to deliberate on measures to ensure a free and fair election process.
