Accra, June 17, GNA – Siemens, a leading technology company, in partnership with GVI Ghana, has launched the EmpowerTech Programme, a three-year initiative aimed at equipping girls from underserved communities with essential digital and STEM skills.
A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the programme will annually train 100 girls from Kokrobite, Ghana, in digital tools, coding, artificial intelligence (AI), and professional development.
EmpowerTech seeks to bridge the gender gap in technology and foster the next generation of female leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
“The initiative directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8),” the statement noted.
“At Siemens, we support the development of talent. EmpowerTech is more than a training programme, it’s a launchpad for young women to become creators, problem-solvers, and leaders in the digital economy,” said Sabine Dall’Omo, Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Sub-Saharan Africa.
“By investing in their potential today, we’re shaping a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow,” he added.
Under the partnership, Siemens will provide laptops, a tailored curriculum, and certifications. GVI Ghana will host the programme at its local resource centre and facilitate community engagement and support.

Mr. Matt Craig, Manager at GVI Ghana, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Siemens, describing it as a transformative initiative.
He noted that EmpowerTech would create opportunities for talented girls who lack access to necessary resources.
Together, we’re not just teaching skills—we are building confidence, ambition, and a pathway to opportunity,” he said.
The first cohort is scheduled to begin in June 2025, with a curriculum covering Microsoft Office, Canva & AI, Google Apps, Arduino Experimento, and a capstone project.
Officials noted that “monitoring and evaluation will follow each cycle to ensure long-term impact and continuous improvement.”
As a global leader in industrial AI and digital transformation, Siemens applies technologies—including generative AI—to real-world challenges across industries.
The company also holds a majority stake in Siemens Healthineers, a leading global provider of medical technology.
