Hohoe (V/R), Jun. 6, GNA – The Rotary Club of Hohoe has commissioned and handed over a mechanised borehole to the Volta School for the Deaf and Blind, Hohoe to ensure access to potable water.
The project, which cost over GH¢60,000, came with a polytank for water storage.
Ms Sylvia Senam Adjimah, President of the Rotary Club of Hohoe, said the Club initiated the project after undertaking a renovation exercise on the School’s Assembly Hall and realised that there were issues regarding access of water for use.
She said the Club was elated about the completion and handing over of the Project to mitigate issues of water access.
Madam Florence Hagan, District Governor, District 9104 (Ghana) of Rotary International, said it was a joy that the borehole project had been completed to enable the leaners have access to quality water.
She urged the management, staff and learners to take good care of the borehole so that it would last long for their benefits.
Madam Hagan said Rotary aimed to ensure improvements in the quality of life in the communities that it served.
Mr Joe Innocent Tsamenye, Headmaster, Volta School for the Deaf and Blind, expressed gratitude to the Club and its leadership for the visionary project.
He said the “monumental achievement” had enhanced learning and provided access to clean water, promoting health, hygiene and sustainability.
“Water is a base of every human life and there is no life without water, this makes its value priceless”.
