Takoradi, June 6, GNA- The MTN Ghana is to co-create digital transformative skills with communities under its 21 Days of Y’ello Care.

The annual event is on the theme: “Connecting at the Roots; connecting communities through the use of digital tools”.

The MTN believed that digital transformation must start from communities and not offices.

Mr David Woasey, the Area Sales Manager, South-West Business District at the launch, revealed that the ongoing challenge of digital exclusion, particularly in rural, remote, and underserved areas must be a matter of concern.

Although Ghana was making remarkable strides in technology and innovation, many rural women, farmers, and persons with disabilities remained excluded from digital opportunities, a development challenge that must   urgently be considered.

The Y’ello Care initiative which is in its 18th year, continued to demonstrate the power of employee-led action to drive meaningful change across communities.

He noted that since its inception, the campaign had mobilised thousands of MTN employees to support impactful initiatives focused on education, health, youth development, and economic empowerment.

This year, staff would implement practical, community-led initiatives that leveraged technology to unlock connectivity.

“The Y’ello Care initiative is a powerful expression of our identity at MTN which demonstrates our commitment to using volunteerism as a tool for inclusion, empowerment, and transformation”.

Mr  Woasey noted that one of the guiding principles of this year’s campaign was co-creation thus the collaboration with local communities to define their needs and ensure sustainability.

Madam Alberta Brown Orleans, the Programmes Manager at Duapa Werkspace, said the theme resonated with the organisation’s mission to impact communities, foster innovation and drive sustainability.
