Miotso, June 11, GNA – The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) has commissioned a 26-bed capacity ultra-modern hospital at the Miotso campus of the Central University College in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region.

Rev. Dr Mensa Otabil, the General Overseer of ICGC and Chancellor of the Central University College (CUC), speaking at the handing over ceremony, underscored the need to cater for the sick within the various community setups.
He further noted that the facility would enhance proper health delivery services, adding that the facility would serve as an extension of God’s healing prowess to save the lives of those who may need healing.
He urged members of ICGC to at all times help equip the hospital and render their utmost support for the facility to be functional.
According to him, though the facility was situated on the university’s campus, it would serve both students and the entire surrounding community.

Professor Bill Buenor Puplampu, Vice Chancellor of the Central University College, noted that the facility would blend faith and science to save humanity, saying the hospital has the capacity to train students on various medical disciplines to augment the current deficit within the health sector.
Professor Puplampu said Ghana, currently, has a deficit in doctor-to-patient ratio, adding that the one doctor to six thousand patients in Ghana was far below the global standard of one doctor to a thousand patients.
He therefore called on stakeholders within the health sector to help deal with the challenge.
According to him, the facility would serve its purpose, adding that a high professional standard would be ensured in its day-to-day running.

The new 26-bed capacity hospital has both male and female wards, a laboratory, an obstetrics and gynaecology unit, a surgical and recovery ward, an ultrasound, a maternity ward, and a surgical theatre, among other important ancillaries.
The handing-over ceremony was also used to honour retired teaching and non-teaching staff of the university. They were presented with citations and some undisclosed amount to celebrate their commitments and dedications towards the success of the school over the years spanning from 1998 to date.
