Wenchi, (Bono), June 13, GNA-No pregnant girl or nursing mother is writing the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region, Mr Solomon Dwomor, the Wenchi Municipal Examination Coordinator has said.
However, he said the BECE had recorded five absentees across the 10 centres since the examination commenced.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Wenchi, Mr Dwomor said one of the candidates, a16-year-old boy Abadallah Mahama was crushed to death by a motorbike after he registered for the examination.
“The deceased was a candidate of the St Paul’s Anglican JHS at Gensoso,” he stated, adding that apart from that tragic incident, no reason had so far been given concerning the other absentees.
Mr Dwomor said the examination was progressing in the municipality and cautioned the candidates against malpractices.
