Duayaw-Nkwanta, (Ahafo), June 12, GNA – Dr Freda Prempeh, the Founder of the Ultimate Women Foundation (UWF), has urged examination supervisors and invigilators to eschew attitudes that will scare girls and affect their performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) begins today, nationwide.
The foundation is women and girls centered non-governmental organization working to encouraging indigenous and vulnerable women and girls to know their worth and to empower and well position them to contribute to the development of their communities and the larger society.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Duayaw-Nkwanta, Dr Prempeh advised the female candidates to be inspired by the free Senior High School programme, do their best and pass the examination to benefit from the programme.
She indicated that the BECE remained a major yardstick to determine the academic success of the candidates, and urged supervisors and invigilators not to create an unnecessary atmosphere that would create fear and panic among the candidates.
“Don’t fear or panic because you are just being examined on what you have already studied in school” the MP advised, urging them to eschew all forms of examination malpractices including sending foreign materials to the examination hall and interacting with their colleagues.
She reminded the candidates that engaging in examination malpractices could not only lead to the cancellation of their subjects and entire results but would also create a sense of guilt in their minds.
Dr Prempeh gave the assurance that her foundation was there to support brilliant, but needy girls to pursue high academic laurels and thereby grow to become responsible adults, and to occupy enviable positions in politics and secular life.
The former outspoken lawmaker wished all the candidates well in the exams, and reminded the girls to do their best, saying “we are always there to support and push you to achieve your career dreams”.
