Tegbi (V/R), May 05, GNA -Young Christians of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC) in the Keta Presbytery of the Volta Region, have been encouraged to uphold holiness and harness the power of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), to advance their evangelical mission.

The call was made during the 2025 edition of the Presbytery Youth Rally held at Tegbi congregation, which ended on Sunday, May 04, on the theme: “Preach the Word – ICT, Your Effective Tool”.

The theme was inspired by the church’s 2025 guiding scripture from II Timothy 4:1-2, which urges believers to proclaim the gospel in all seasons.

The three-day event brought together over 300 energetic youth from various districts within the presbytery for a spiritually uplifting and intellectually enriching encounter.

Sessions focused on equipping participants with biblical values and contemporary tools to fulfil their Christian mandate in the present digital era.

Participants were immersed in an environment of spiritual renewal, intellectual engagement, and peer fellowship, as seasoned ministers of the Gospel and professionals, thought them with both biblical principles and modern strategies for fulfilling their Christian mandate.

Reverend Fred Akator from the Accra Presbytery, led a pivotal session on the effective use of ICT in Christian ministry and emphasised that far from being a distraction, digital tools if properly used could offer unprecedented opportunities for evangelism.

“Technology is not a threat to Christianity but a divine tool. When used wisely, it can draw thousands into the kingdom of God,” Rev. Akator said.

“Your social media platforms are modern mission fields. Use them to share God’s love, truth, and mercy. To the influencers among you, create content that should preach about Christ’s love, mercy and resurrection to change lives,” he said.

He urged the youth to use their phones and devices for purposeful Christian engagement rather than entertainment alone, describing the present generation as one with the greatest potential to reach the “lost” through online platforms.

In a compelling address on moral purity, Dr Ellen Eyi Klutsey, a lecturer at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), a Patron of the Global Evangelical Students and Associates Ministry (GESAM), called on the youth to uphold holiness as the foundation of their Christian Walk.

“Fornication, adultery, and related behaviours are more than moral missteps; they are spiritual barriers,” she warned. As vessels of God, you must reflect His purity. Holiness must not be an option; it is your calling”.

She encouraged the youth to remain focused on their education and personal growth, noting that yielding to immoral temptations can undermine their potential and purpose.

Reverend Francis Quamey, from the Vui District, led an insightful session on relationships and marriage, encouraging married young people to uphold fidelity, spirituality, and unconditional love in their unions.

He also advised youth in courtship to pursue God-honouring relationships rooted in mutual respect and spiritual maturity.

Rev. Kafui Kudjo Amusu, the Keta Presbytery Youth Coordinator and resident pastor at GEC Bethel Chapel, who spoke with the Ghana News Agency after the thanksgiving service on Sunday afternoon, urged participants to put into practice the knowledge and spiritual truths they have acquired during the rally.

“We’ve received powerful teachings. Let’s not let them go to waste. Use what you have-your phones, your platforms-to win souls. But first, let your life be a testimony of Christ’s holiness,” Rev. Amusus urged.

The event was not only about teachings and sermons, but the participants also engaged in various recreational and bonding activities, including song ministrations, indoor games, and interactive social sessions.

These moments helped foster stronger relationships among the youth and strengthened their sense of community within the church.

Mr Wonder Tugba, the outgoing Presbytery Youth President, in his closing remarks, praised the high level of discipline and enthusiasm exhibited by the participants.

He urged youth across the presbytery to prioritise such programs as avenues for both spiritual development and community building.

The Keta Presbytery of the Global Evangelical Church includes about 21 congregations, parishes, and districts that span across the Ketu South Municipal, Keta Municipal and Anloga Districts, such as Denu-Tokor District, Keta, Vui District, Horvi-Kedzi District, Anyanui, Dzita, among others
