Accra, May 12, GNA-The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and Fifth Caliph, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad has congratulated Pope Leo XIV on his election as the head of the Catholic Church.
In a statement, he said, “On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I sincerely congratulate the members of the Roman Catholic Church on the election of Pope Leo.”
Pope Leo XIV, formerly U.S. Cardinal Robert Prevost, was elected by Catholic Church’s cardinals on Thursday, May 8, 2025, the second day of the conclave to choose a successor to Pope Francis, who died last month.
It said, “we are passing through a very critical and perilous period in human history, as raging wars and violent conflicts stain the earth with the blood of countless innocent and defenceless souls on a daily basis.”
The statement said as they stand on the precipice of a Third World War, “I pray that may God Almighty grant the Pope the ability to stand as a voice for true peace and harmony in the world and to stand for the rights of all innocent people, irrespective of their caste, creed or colour, Ameen.”
It said as the worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, “I affirm that we are ever ready to support and partake in every effort and action made for the sake of establishing true peace and security in the world and for the sake of bringing humanity back towards its Creator.”
