Aflao (VR), May 9, GNA – Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V, Paramount Chief of Aflao Traditional Area has recognised Mr Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, Volta Region’s representative on the Council of State for his efforts in driving Volta’s development.
Mr Kwamigah-Atokple through his Tanko Foundation (founded in 2020) had impacted lives by addressing critical issues in education, healthcare and economic empowerment especially in underprivileged communities across the region.
To acknowledge his dedication to the region’s growth and prosperity, Torgbui Fiti presented him with a symbolic plaque bearing the image of a lion cub-a powerful emblem during the inauguration of Virtuous Queens Association, an association of spouses of chiefs in the Aflao Traditional Area.
“This is not just a symbol but a message. The lion cub represents you, and through it, the traditional council is affirming you as one of our own. It is to remind you that in all that you do, you carry our hopes, strength, and expectations with you. It also signifies your roots, your responsibilities, and the trust we have placed in you to reflect our values wherever you go.
We encourage you to continue using your position as the Volta Region’s representative on the Council of State to support development in our communities,” Torgbui Fiti said to Mr Kwamigah-Atokple.

On his part, Mr Kwamigah-Atokple deemed the recognition as a touching moment for him and pledged his commitment to the progress of the region by strengthening economic ties, advocating healthcare and fostering partnerships.
Mama Enyonam Fiti, wife of Torgbui Fiti and leader of the newly inaugurated Virtuous Queens Association called on spouses of the chiefs in the traditional area to support their husbands in driving community development noting, a lot needed to be done to put smiles on the faces of women and children, who are mostly the poor and needy in the area and the region.
She gave the vision of the Association to be, to uplift women and young girls across the region.
As seed funding to help launch the Association’s programmes, Mr Kwamigah-Atokple and his partners contributed an amount of GH¢110,000.00 while philanthropist, Mr Felix Akakpo (Akonta) and Torgbui Akli Akousah gave GH¢20,000.00 each, in addition to other donations from individuals and groups.
Some attendants at the event who spoke to Ghana News Agency lauded the initiative saying, it would help pool resources to address the unique challenges facing mostly women and children and urged leadership of the Association to develop innovative solutions for the needed impact.
